This very dark amathyst rectangle "vase ?" look almost black untill you hold it up to a bright light. It is 71/2 x 31/2 x 31/2 tall. Marked L.L. Smith Co. Made in U.S.A.

Looks like a Planter
That's what I initially thought, if it was it was never used as one because there is none of that heavy water stain on the inside.
The mark may be difficult to read. It is "L.E. Smith"
Dates to the 1930s.
