PEWTER AND POTTERY JAR

I found this piece today and thought it was a tobacco jar,cost me a mere $2 dollars,i dont think it has any significant age,but was intrigued by the pewter ans pottery combination,the markings at the bas e says DAMASCOS CHILE, tried googling the mane,but with no results PLEASE can somebody out there shed some light as to the origin of his piece or knowledge thereof.
