Most of these are buttons I've been given or I've found over the years. Some though, I liked when I was you get and my mom gave me some of her button collection. (I think she might remember what a couple are off of) but I haven't a clue really about any of them! What a shame. Some are heavy and glass. Some crystal/cut glass/rhinestone. I'm thinking there are some bone or ivory and some Bakelite. I've also got some good old plastic ones!
The only thing I do know for sure: I love buttons :)
