I found this at a flea market. It is some kind of trimmer and fits nicely in a right hand. It is well made of plated steel and is obviously "expensive" for this type of item. The rolling cutter can be pushed down against a spring loaded guide. It is not adjustable for cutting width and the blade is flush with the guide. Is it possibly a veneer trimmer of some type?
Wallpaper trimmer. I don't think they use them anymore because of the way wallpaper is made today.
I thought about that use but it won't work as a paper trimmer.
I have used wallpaper trimmers to removed the boundary after the paper is printed. They are adjustable and generally remove around 1/2" strips from the side of the roll.
This tool has the blade fixed inline with the fence guide and there is no way to adjust that. There is a small plate that is adjustable approximately 1/16" and only serves to change the right angle of the cut to a slightly lower angle of maybe 89 degrees.
There is no manufacturing information on the tool but it looks similar to planes made by Stanley in the 50's.
