    Found this in eastern Iowa, emerging from the ground after a big rainstorm this week. Clearly hand-forged, steel was bent around the handle rather than a machined eye

    It was located next to the original barn which is (c) 1880-1900.
    Think it's from that era, or just a relatively modern farmer with a forge?
