Gusdorf Faux Wood Swivel TV Stand 1950s

These Gusdorf stands seem to be floating around in several different configurations. Some have a more squared base and pedestal, and some even stand on 4 arched chrome feet. This particular model was constructed of three main parts bolted together for a very convincing solid wood look... if you didn't bother to look too close. The "wood" was actually a textured molded plastic lower with a laminated pressboard on top. It may have been cheaper to produce, but it gave the impression of some high end Danish craftsmanship... Very clever.
