    I think that this is some kind of stone - soft almost like soapstone, but a beautiful tan/brown color. it's very heavy and made so perfectly - somehow. Must be turned on some kind of lathe. any info greatly appreciated. it's almost 9 inches across.

      thank you keramikos! great info. it's definitely stone and it is on the soft side, so it might be a brown soapstone. it's not dyed though. you wouldn't get a color like this over the greenish blue of standard soapstone.
