Curious if anyone can tell me anything about this old chair

I happened upon this antique chair today. I bought it for my daughter as she recently bought her first home. She loves antiques. I don't know anything about it though apart from the obvious antiquity. Can anyone possibly date it based on the photo? I kinda think it's civil war era.
