Despite all of the wonderful things that I have collected, it is usually the simple things with the great stories behind them that I love the most. I spotted this 8X10 photo of a dog and immediately fell in love with her! It didn't cost very much, and I had to adopt her. I then noticed that it was torn out of an old photo album, so I knew that she had been a special dog. I emailed the seller and asked if she had any information about this cute little canine. To my surprise, "Mitzi" was actually her first pet. The lady is now 86 years old and, I know it broke her heart to send the photo. I assured her that "Mitzi" is loved and is already in a frame on the wall with the rest of my adoptees. She has more information and we are trying to get in touch. I will add more info whenever I get it.
The second photo is an article from June 26, 1952 "Mitzi" won 3RD place for Miscellaneous Small Breed Lawrenceburg Press.
The last photo shows "Mitzi" (upper right) on the "Dog Wall."
The following story is about "Mitzi:"
"Oh my goodness - just saw this! (my email) Was coming here to attach this news article was in The Lawrenceburg Press. Mitzi was my very first pet. I was born in 1940 and I about 7 or 8 when she was brought to my Aunt who raised me - by the local vet - Dr Fox who knew her love of all animals. Not long after Mitzi had a chicken bone caught in the roof of her mouth and he was called to our apartment to remove. We learned our first lesson what not to feed dogs. Our home a house later was like the local SPCA - animals were just dropped off in our large yard and we brought them in. Some were tied to the fence or to a lawn chair - all were welcome - Thank you for asking. I have the letter from Aunt Alma who wrote me about Mitzi when I had graduated high school and married. "
Another story:
My Aunt bought me a bicycle with a basket on it and put handmade rag rug in it for sit in while I rode up down the streets of L'burg. running errands or just riding with Mitzi. People will say 'there goes Ed and Alma's girl'. I thought we received a small write up on about that too.
A simple question had given me this wonderful story and a new friend.

Nice story so wonderful to see revived. In the picture Mitzi appears to have been the family dog a while !~
