Nice find, is that a date at the bottom?
At the bottom it reads "3-48-10-G
So I would guess the "3-48" is the date
is it embossed porcelain? The white letters POP against that dark background! NICE.

Actually it's not porcelian, but the lettering is raised or embossed. Gives it a more 3D look
