My father has this wooden chair, and he claims that it's old, does anybody know, how old it could be?

Shape is refered as Dagobert seat, derived from curule seat.
For sure, your is not from yesterday!
I feel it beeing around 1880 (medieval revival fashion!)
Some furniture experts may be more precise if you post detailed pics of assemble :-)

Two other terms are used for these chairs too: a Dante chair and a Savanarola chair.
