12.5" Villeroy & Boch hand painted flower plate. It has the saying - chickens lay eggs (on the top lip) - Girls look for husbands (on the bottom lip) written in German Sutterlinschrift 1911 alphabet. The number U43 is on the back along with the "makers marks". It's in perfect condition.
The plate belonged to a set of eight different plates with slogans. U43 is the name of the hand-painted pattern. The plate was produced at the former Villeroy & Boch factory in Dresden (1855-1945) during the second half of the 1930ies. Tableware products were not dated individually, so it's not possible to know the exact year of manufacturing.
I have no idea of value and was wondering if anyone has any of the other 7 plates in the series.
