Rocking chair from a convent

This Rocking-chair was bequeathed to the convent of Episcopalian nuns that lived next to the church that I grew up in. The Convent had been an old manor house on Long Island, so this chair might be fairly old, too. It may also have been one of the chairs that had been donated to them after the death of a patron (who would been about 120 years old, if she lived today).
I think it is walnut, but it's not in excellent condition at this point. I remember the chair from the 60's, and it was already pretty worn. All I have done over the years is cleaned it with Tung oil. I think it must be at least 75 years old.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this Rocking-chair? Is it just a common style of Rocking-chair from the early to mid 20th century? I assume it is American made. There are no distinctive markings on the seat bottom to identify it.
I am giving several of my old pieces of furniture to my nephew, and want to pass along the story of how I got it, and anything else I can find out.
