Unique carved table - What is it?

I was given this table years ago and just love it's unique carvings and seamless top. I have always wanted to try and find some chairs that would be complimentary for it. Any idea what style or classification this table would be? My creative searches on the internet have not found any good results. Any input or information would be appreciated.
