These are a pair of Shafer Vater jasperware wall plaques. They are quite small, only 15cms across. I think they are very pretty and have been on my wall for several years. They are marked with numbers on the back 3102.

What exactly is jasperware?
I collect Wedgwood Jasperware, a type of fine-grained, unglazed stoneware introduced by the English potter Josiah Wedgwood in 1775 as the result of a long series of experiments aimed at discovering the techniques of porcelain manufacture. Its name derives from the fact that it resembles the natural stone jasper in its hardness. There were quite a few firms who copied it, and I guess Schafer Vater was one of them, though the style is very different to the Wedgwood.
