    This is to the right of the front door of a 1904 house in Belmar, NJ. We have no idea what it is for, maybe old doorbell?? We assume there are some parts missing.

      For some reason the photo was posted sidewards. The left side is the top.

      Not enough information but the lower (right) part looks like a bell's button frame and the top part MIGHT have been a speaking tube - the turn-of-the-century equivalent of an intercom. You'll have to remove the plate or open the interior wall.
