Black ceramic piggy bank with hand painted tail, snout, eyes and ears in contrasting white and orange. There's a slot at the top for inserting coins but there's no way of removing them. This was quite common in older style piggy banks. You'd have to insert a knife (or similar) in order to allow the coins to fall out.

This is probably a piggy bank from ARTHUR WOOD (UK), without a hallmark. A kind of B choice, for the 'market'. It's certainly a similar mould! In my collection are two of them (one black like yours and one white) and one original Arthur Wood with hallmark.

I remember my mum and dad having one of these piggy banks and taking a long time trying to get the money out with a knife. Sadly don't know what happened top it.
