I purchased this from an online auction because I collect baskets from around the world. Can't seem to find anything similar - Native North or South American? African? Thanks!

The material used, the construction technique (the spoke-like start, plaited handles, long stitches, and unfinished interior), plus the design pattern, all indicate it is Chinese.

Thank you! It’s such a strong, beautiful piece of functional art. I appreciate your time.
