Hello everyone!!
Among all my match holders is a toothpick holder or two. I believe this one is what's referred to as redware and was made in France in the late 19th century. It's depicting a little boy hunter with his gun by his side and his dog. I love those design of this one, especially the chubby cheeks.
It's well painted and for it to be in such fine condition to be well over 125 years old is incredible. It's marked B.B. 815 and a red 70. In extensive research, the letters refer to the initials of the artist and the number 70 is the year it was made. This one measures 5 1/2" tall and 4" wide.
Thanks very much for taking the time to stop in for a look!!
