1970 Donruss Odder Odd Rods Stickers

    1970- 2nd series

As soon as we brought this junk drawer lot home from auction these went straight in my collection! Super cool stickers..being a hot rod guy and growing up reading CARtoons magazines I had to have them. These stickers came in bubble gum packs. The 2nd 1970 series is a reprint of the earlier series but has different backs. If you notice the numbers on my cards, I have a few of those mixed in(same numbers different image).

"Odd Rods was a group of non-sports trading card/sticker series created by the Donruss company beginning in 1969. The original series, entitled Odd Rods, introduced the theme of the series in 44 stickers: monsters in cars. Done by cartoonist/illustrator/writer B. K. Taylor in a style influenced by the work of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth."

    1973 (reprint) Fabulous Odd Rods
    1973 (reprint) Fantastic Odd Rods
1973 Fantastic Odd Rods Series 2

"B.K. Taylor, the artist/creator of "Odd Rods," was the protege of Stanley "Mouse" Miller, who invented the hot-rod/monster genre in the mid-1950s. Ed "Big Daddy" Roth became Mouse's biggest competition at the Autoramas, c. 1958-60, where the two artists would airbrush monsters on sweatshirts from their booths at opposite ends."
