I can't figure out what this is. Is it decorative or does it have a purpose. Any help would be appreciated.

What you have is a antique cork press. This was used in pharmacys to compress the corks to insert into the medicine bottles. I have one in my store priced at a $139.95. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I had no idea what it was. So is the idea the corks would get compressed and then enlarge again after it was in the bottle?
      Thanks rocker-sd!
