This has been in my mother's family for at least 70 years. They used to own a motel called Magnolia Lodge in N. Florida back in the 50's. The lodge was full of antiques. Where the velvet panels are there were mirrors. My grandfather thought mirrors were not appropriate for a 16 yr old so he had them taken out. I have one of the mirrors and my cousin, Paula Deen, has the other two.

The original nails are square. On the side rails where they connect to the head and foot boards is cast iron with the writing BFH&Co.

I would just like to know a little more about the bed. I have waited 50 years to finally get this bed!

I'd call this Eastlake STYLE. The panels or mirrors would not have been on a 19th century original.

I would think that this was a new piece when used in the lodge and dates from the middle of the 20th century.
